Dear prospective History & Economics student:

As the new semester is approaching quite rapidly, we would like to give you some information on the start of the programme:

• The Math & Statistics Refresher course, taught by Richard Franke, will take place from October 7^th to October 11^th. The course is compulsory only for those of you for whom it is mentioned as a pre-requisite in their admission letter. We nevertheless encourage all new students to participate. You find further details in the attached syllabus. If you have any remaining questions, please get in touch with Richard Franke. More information here. 
• We also attach the course outline for Foundations I here, which is compulsory for all H&E students. There is no need to read any literature beforehand, but the outline contains some suggestions for your summer readings (see background literature).
• The H&E Welcome Session will take place from 4pm to 6pm on October 14^th (Room S8 in building GW2). We will give you some important information on the programme and you will have the chance to clarify any questions that you may have. Most importantly, this is a great opportunity to meet your lecturers and fellow students over drinks and snacks.
